About Heidi:

I started my freelance indexing business in 2001. Prior to my indexing career, I evaluated doctoral dissertations and master’s theses for the College of Education at a large state university in Ohio. The evaluation included compliance with university guidelines as well as APA or Turabian style manuals. Detail-oriented editing skills developed at the university and my indexing training combine to make me a competent and thorough indexer.

I am a generalist, indexing books on diverse topics. Recent projects include books on cooking, hospital administration, marine/transportation, sports, marketing, and medical topics.

My areas of interest include architecture; biography; engineering; food and cooking; health and medicine; history, government, and politics; how-to; and maritime and transportation subjects.

I am a member of the American Society for Indexing and several ASI-affiliated groups: the Mid- and South-Atlantic chapter, the Culinary Special Interest Group, and the Science and Medicine Special Interest Group. I am listed in the online and print editions of Literary Market Place. I am also the list owner and administrator of FLI-L, an online discussion and networking mailing list for indexers who live in Florida.

I live in St. Augustine, Florida, but my clients are located from Maine to California.
